The best illustration of the endpoint of bulimia/anorexia.
Horrific.

Medusa, I'm going to have to stop reading/watching your blog. My heart is shriveling in despair, not only for her, whose troubles are over, but for me and all those who love an anorexic. Horrible, horrible images for horrid eating disorders. I weep.

anonymous, I am so sorry you are having to deal with a loved one who is suffering from anorexia. My heart goes out to you.

Please understand that the reason for this post particularly, and my other posts dealing with anorexia, bulimia and other eating disorders is to provide information to those who are currently suffering from those EAs as to what may occur if they do not seek help.

I have hundreds and hundreds of hits daily on my blog from people from around the world doing Google searches for information on starvation diets, anorexia, bulimia, pro ana, pro mia, etc. If my posts result in just one of those people reconsidering the pro ana/mia lifestyle or seeking help for an eating disorder then all the time spent blogging about these horrific eating disorders will be worth it.

Please know that I understand your despair. It must be a terrible feeling of helplessness to watch your loved one struggling.

My thoughts are with you.

larcana and mrsmenopausal, thank you so much for taking the time to leave a comment.

Both the image and the words are horrific but powerful. My only hope is that one person suffering from an EA will really listen to the message and seek help immediately.

Again, thanks for your comments.

You would be welcome at We Bite Back. We all positively encourage one another towards recovery, sustained health and happiness. It is possible with the support of others.

On We Bite Back, we feel that by supporting one another and striving to live healthier for the sake of our friends we make online is a big part of the recovery process. We influence each other. We learn from each other.

Bulimia can be beaten. Sometimes we need help getting ourselves back on track and there's no shame in that. Food issues strike most people at some point in their lives. Strive to prolong the period of time between purges. When you slip up and purge again, count the time you went without a purge and work on beating your time. Each time, work harder to prolong the time since the last time you resorted in purging. Find better coping mechanisms for your negative emotions when they come up. Know what situations, people and thoughts trigger your behavioral patterns.

Make friends, even anonymously, who will be a positive influence in your struggle to beat this. That will make all the difference.

Thank you so much for posting this blog. I was searching for pro ana websites, because I was considering that lifestyle, when I came across your site. It made me realize how dangerous anorexia and bulimia really can be. You are truly making a positive difference in the world, and you have probably saved many, many lives through this blog.
THANK YOU

Thanks SO much for taking the time to leave your wonderful comment. You did my heart good.

I'm so thankful you reconsidered the pro ana lifestyle. It's the road to an early grave, and so many who embrace the lifestyle are unaware that when they are not taking in enough calories, the body starts attacking muscles, including the heart. And when that happens, it's too late.

Again, thank you SO much for your very kind comments. I can't tell you how much I appreciate them.

Hugs...

i was mia and moved to ana, but have any of you actually sat down and thought what ana means to half us, she's my comfort, she's my teacher. We are the way we are because yes its a disease but what about the things that have happend to us to make us this way? everyone can preach and everyone can say how sad it is and how bad it is but none of you are us, none of you have been through half of what we have and still go through,

one idiot in my life one stupid idiot, made me feel dirty and used and worthless and thats when my disorder(s) started, because of one selfish idiot. And im on the sites daily recovery and pro, sometimes what is said makes sense and sometimes i dont know where they got half there info from.

Ana is not my enemy, Ana is my friend, she never leaves me, i wake up with her go through the day with her and finally fall asleep with her. out of everyone that has abondoned me, she's the only one that has stuck right by me.

Im sorry im just extremely upset right now, im angry im hurt, and im takeing it out on you and its not fair. its just not fair, i know why some of them kill themselves because on days like these you cant take very much of anything.
i cant take very much of anything anymore...
if i upset anyone im sorry.

Please don't apologize for "taking it out" on me or the other posters here. If you need to vent, please do.

You were hurt terribly and your anger is justifiable.

Please remember that although ana may be your friend now in helping you have some control in your life, she is a fickle and dangerous friend who will betray you.

Please, anonymous, check out the website, We Bite Back (the link is in one of my previous comments above). It's a fantastic website and members there are wonderful & supportive.

If you just want to talk or need to vent, please don't hesitate to e-mail me at gorgon@2medusa.com

I will do whatever I can to help you.

Hugs to you,
Medusa

I just want to say that i suffered from bulimia for 4 years. After i moved out of my parents house and started going out with this guy who treated me like a dirt. But then i realized i can be better and the day i dumped him i dumped my disease. Its 3 years after it now and i do have weird feelings about it but so far it didnt come back. But the fight with it is still on somewhere inside of me.
Medusa thanks for doing this great work and good luck. I hope your blog will help loads of people.
Take care

do you think its going to help???
those who are pro ana/mia knows it
everyone knows that its deasese and it can kill u, but beeing thin is what we want. they say 'die to be thin' and mean it not that they think 'die' is a joke. its 4 real and some people who try to recover need help not someone who say it kills. obv its like telling someone who smokes that it kills its not gonna make them stop.
and don't tell me I don't know anything bout it coz u the one who randomly found the diary...
and i'm not being mean, but this doesn't help
id you want to write bak ma email is butterfly_dot@op.pl
